Types of Car Glass You Need to Know

Not only about comfort and performance innovation, four-wheeled vehicles or cars must also have safety innovations, especially car windows. This safety standard will later become one of the factors that consumers consider in buying their products. Aside from being a security device, car windows are also usually modified your favorite ride looks sweeter. For car owners, driving safety is of course a major factor. Even though a car has been designed as a safe mode of transportation according to the manufacturer's standards, there is nothing wrong if you add certain features that add safety when driving a car instead. Auto glass is specially designed to be reliable on transportation vehicles. Although somewhat stronger, this type of car glass can still be broken. Because actually, it's not just the windshield that is the only protector when driving a car. Car glass that is commonly used has two types. Both types of car glass have their own differences as well as advantages and disadvantages. Types of car glass commonly used include tempered glass and laminated glass.

Tempered Glass:

The type of temperlite glass or tempered glass is ordinary glass which is hardened by a heating process until it reaches a temperature of 650 degrees Celsius and then cooled immediately. This type of glass has a strength three times stronger than ordinary glass, so it is relatively difficult to break. But the weakness, if penetrated by sharp objects, this glass will easily break into pieces like crystals. The advantage of using this type of glass is that it is not easily broken if hit by an impact or blunt hard object. Temperlite type glass is also usually used for buses. Tempered glass will break if penetrated by a sharp object up to 1/6 of its thickness. When penetrated even with a small object, the entire glass will shatter into pieces like sharp corn kernels. In general, tempered glass is mostly placed on the side and rear windows of the car.

Lamisafe Glass:

The next type of glass that you needs to know is lamisafe (laminated glass). This type of glass consists of three layers of material, namely two layers of glass coated with a sheet of film (polyvinyl butyral film / PVB) which is in the middle layer. The goal is simple because the PVB layer serves to bind the two glass so as to provide more resistance from impact. Lamisafe has very strong window film. The function of the window film is to keep, if hit by an impact, the glass will still stick to the film. This type of glass can withstand ultraviolet rays up to 96 percent. Lamisafe type glass is usually used for car windshields. The advantage of using this type of glass is that when your car glass is hit or thrown by a hard object, the broken glass does not scatter. When something happens, passengers can avoid serious injuries because broken glass sticks to the film sheet. In addition, if the windshield of your friend's car is hit, the driver can still see the road, because the damage to the glass is concentrated only in the area that was hit. However, car glass also has several other shortcomings, such as disease disorders.

Troubled car windshield greatly interferes with driving visibility. If this is the case, when Sahabat Garasi is driving at night or in rainy conditions, it becomes risky. The problem that often occurs in cars is the growth of fungus ( waterspot ). Disturbances in the glass usually arise due to rainwater that is not cleaned immediately. As a result, this condition will leave spots that are difficult to remove. This problem often haunts car owners. Disturbance in this one glass usually occurs due to rainwater that is not cleaned immediately. The process of the emergence of the fungus itself is caused by the mixing of rainwater and dust which is then exposed to sunlight. Then, the second disorder is spots. This type of interference with the glass is caused by two things. First, the use of the wrong fungicide or car windows that are left exposed to the sun's UV rays for a long time. Well, in addition to making the car look down, the driver's visibility will be disturbed. Spots on car windshields are the most difficult glass nuisance to deal with. This is because the spots are already in the pores of the glass. To fix it, you can use cerium oxide and be assisted by a polishing machine.
