Driving with Your Little One, These are 5 Tips for Choosing a Baby Safety Seat in the Car

Children do have a great curiosity. Children also tend to have a desire to act like adults. So, children usually often whine to ask permission to sit in the front row seats of the car. So, are small children actually allowed to sit in the front seat of the car or should they use the baby safety seat in the car? What is the ideal age limit?

Friends need to know, seat belts or safety belts on cars are designed to support the bodies of adults, not children. The correct and safe use of seat belts is that the shoulder belt must cross over the shoulder without tying it around the neck, while the lap belt should be as low as possible above the hips. Unfortunately, this is not one of the 'concerns' for our government how important it is for children to sit in the back or middle seats for safety reasons. Although this is not regulated in the legislation, you must remember that children of a certain age are not allowed to sit in the front row seats. Children must be placed in the back seat with a baby safety seat in the car or so-called baby/child car safety seat.

Variety of Baby Safety Seats in the Car:

As one example set by the National Transport Commission (NTC) which oversees the Australian Road Rules (ARRs) to protect the safety of children in the car.

Children Under 6 Months:

Infants under 6 months of age should be placed in a rearward-facing infant safety seat in the car. Usually the baby car seat is placed in the middle or the 2nd row of the car which has been equipped with a 6-point harness system like a racer's seat belt.

Child Age 6 Months – 4 years:

Children aged 6 months to less than 4 years must be seated in a baby safety seat in a car that is appropriate for their size, properly strapped and adjustable. In this case the child can be positioned facing backwards or facing forward which of course is restrained by a 6-point harness. Children at this age are considered to grow at different stages. Even if your child is 6 months old, they may not be ready to travel in a forward sitting position. Children this age are encouraged to remain seated facing the back until they are judged old enough to be ready to face forward. At this age children are required to travel in the back seat of the car.

Child Age 4-7 Years:

As above, the child must be seated in the appropriate car seat, tighten the harness properly and be allowed to face forward. And or can use a booster seat (booster seat) that has been verified according to national standards and wear a harness that fits the child's body size. The most important thing is to choose the type of car seat or booster seat according to the child's body size, not age. At this age the child is required to sit in the car baby seat which is placed in the back.

Children Age 7-16 Years:

Children above 7 years old or already of sufficient height are no longer required to use the baby safety seat in the car. However, although children over the age of 7 are allowed to sit in the front seat when traveling, research shows that children under the age of 12 are much safer in the back seat. As mentioned above, car seat belts are designed to support an adult's body with a minimum height of 145 cm. For parents, maybe when your child asks for permission to sit in the front row of the car, you will surely melt and allow it just like that. But think again, if you suddenly had an accident, you would really regret the decision you had chosen to allow your baby to sit in the front row. Therefore, a baby safety seat in a car is a mandatory law for you young parents.

Choosing the Right Baby Safety Seat in the Car:

Choosing a baby safety seat in a car for a child can be a thrilling experience. That's because buying a car baby seat isn't just an essential item, it's also the most expensive purchase. Because baby safety seats in cars are meant to protect your little one while traveling, make sure you research the various types and models thoroughly.

Here are some basic tips on what to know about baby safety seats in cars, to make the search a little easier and make sure you don't go wrong.

Get to Know the Car:

The first thing to do is to read the car manual first. Can the baby seat in the car be used while wearing a seat belt or not? This knowledge is needed so that you know the type of car baby seat that is suitable for use. Also, measure the back seat of the car to find out how much space is available for the baby safety seat in the car. Also consider who will sit in the back seat. Because if it is too full, the trip will be less comfortable for the baby and other passengers.

Choose a Flexible Baby Safety Seat:

Newborns can sit in two types of car seats: a rear-facing infant seat, or a convertible seat that faces the back of the car at first, and then rotates toward the front. Buying a convertible baby safety seat in a car will save you money, because it lasts into toddlerhood, and is completely safe.

Pay Attention to the Baby Safety Seat Feature in the Car:

Are you just looking for a baby seat that is 6 months old or up to 4 years old? Or look for a model that has a 5-point seat belt (two shoulder straps, two waist straps, and one strap between the legs that meet in the middle)? Take note! Always buy a car infant seat that has impact damping on the sides with added foam or air cushions on the sides of the baby's head. Don't forget to also check whether the baby seat has enough baby safety belts or not.

Choose one that is Easy to Clean:

Baby safety seats in cars made with soft fabrics are easier to clean than textured fabrics. Because babies can do many things during the trip. It could be that he dropped his food, wet diaper, vomited, and so on. So, the hygiene factor must also be prioritized.

Choose a Baby Safety Seat in a Car that has Many Accessories:

Accessories on the baby safety seat in the car are not necessarily important but can make it easier for you, friend. For some parents, insect and weather resistant car seat covers are an option when driving frequently during the day. While for others, highly durable car seat covers are essential for traveling through the airport. But not all carseat accessories must be attached to the car seat itself. If you want to add some accessory items, adjust them according to your needs. It could be with hanging toys, tissue or food storage, and so on. Stay careful in choosing, my friend. Because the comfort and safety of your little one while driving will depend on which car seat you choose. Safety is very important, especially if you travel by car every day. In order to make your driving safer and more comfortable, you have to make sure the car you have or the one you want has complete safety features.
