Your car uses many fluids for the proper functioning of its parts. The power steering fluid is needed to be topped up every once in a while. It is necessary to make sure that the hydraulic power steering system continues to function properly.

Power Steering Fluid Leaks
If you continually add more power steering fluid, but it does not take effect as you expect, then you may have a power steering fluid leak. The color of the fluid is not the same every time but it is typically, clear, red, or pink.
You should take a look underneath your car. Chances are, if you have a power steering fluid leak, the residue will collect under the front of your car. If you do find a leak, you need to take your car to a mechanic. It is important as a leak could originate from a variety of different areas of your vehicle.
Damaged or Worn-Out Power Steering Belt
The power steering belt is turned by a pulley on the crankshaft; it is what drives the fluid pump that controls your hydraulic steering. If due to wear out this belt become “slack”, steering may start to feel heavy or jerky.
Sometimes, you can get it tightened by a mechanic. However, it is recommended to replace it completely to ensure the proper functionality of your steering system.
Bad Strut Bearings or Tie Rods
If your wheel is straying form a straight line when you are driving, it could be related to the suspension of your cars such as bad strut bearings or tie rods. Other signs of suspension problems include wheel looseness, excessive tire wear, and some others.
If you notice any of these signs, take your car for an inspection right away. If the suspension fails or breaks, you could be in a seriously dangerous situation. Ignoring the problem for longer, more dangerous it will become.
